Social Networking explodes
So-called social networking sites are beginning to dominate the Internet
The new(ish) phenomenon of social networking continues to explode with top sites such as Ropert Murdoch's MySpace.com (recently bought for over half a million bucks) topping the charts with 51 million unique visitors in May this year.
The next biggest globally is Classmates.com, followed by Facebook, YouTube and MSN Spaces.
The statistics where gathered by Web Metrics firm ComScore, which predicted that the sector would continue to grow rapidly into the forseeable future (hence, presumably, Murdoch's huge expenditure in this space). The problem now remains, both for Murdoch and all social networking sites, is how to make money from all this traffic!
